AffiliateOS vs Impact
Affiliate network and partnership management platform
Impact is one of the five networks AffiliateOS connects to. If you are choosing between them you are probably comparing two different layers of the same stack — here is which layer does what.
The short answer
These are not alternatives. Impact is an affiliate network: it is where merchants run their programs and where your commissions are actually earned and paid. AffiliateOS is the layer above it — you connect your existing Impact account (plus Awin, CJ, Rakuten and Amazon) and get one normalized schema your AI agent can query over MCP. If Impact is your only network and you are happy working in its dashboard by hand, you do not need AffiliateOS. If you run several networks, or you want an agent minting links and reading earnings back, AffiliateOS is what sits on top.
You connect Impact, you do not replace it
Your Impact account stays yours. Your merchant relationships, your approved programs, your commission rates and your payouts are all unchanged — AffiliateOS authenticates with credentials you generate in the Impact dashboard and reads through the official publisher API.
AffiliateOS never sits in the payment flow. Impact pays you exactly as it does today. There is no revenue share and no link rebrokering.
What changes is the interface. Impact programs, links and transactions land in the same schema as your other networks, your attribution tag rides Impact’s subId1 parameter, and conversions come back resolved to that tag alongside every other network’s.
Side by side
| AffiliateOS | Impact | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Infrastructure layer over the network accounts you already have | An affiliate network and partnership platform where programs live |
| Who holds the merchant relationship | You do — we never broker it | You do, through your Impact account |
| Coverage | Awin, Impact, CJ, Rakuten and Amazon in one schema | Merchants who run their program on Impact |
| Agent surface | MCP server plus REST parity, designed for agent reasoning | Publisher API and dashboard, built for human operators and integrations |
| Cross-network attribution | One tag per campaign, translated to each network’s sub-ID convention | Impact’s own subId fields, for Impact conversions |
| Who pays you | Nobody — the networks pay you directly | Impact pays out your commissions |
Impact alone is enough if
- —Impact is the only network you earn on, and you are not planning to add others.
- —You work in a dashboard by hand and are happy there.
- —Your reporting needs are met by Impact’s own reports and exports.
Add AffiliateOS if
- —You earn across more than one network and reconcile them by hand or in a spreadsheet.
- —You want an AI assistant to find programs, mint tracked links and report earnings without you opening a dashboard.
- —You need one attribution convention that survives across networks, so you can compare a campaign’s Impact and Awin earnings side by side.
- —You are building an agent or automation and want an API surface shaped for it rather than five different vendor APIs.
Questions people actually ask
Is AffiliateOS an alternative to Impact?
No. Impact is an affiliate network where merchant programs live and where your commissions are earned and paid. AffiliateOS is infrastructure that connects to your existing Impact account and normalizes it alongside Awin, CJ, Rakuten and Amazon so an AI agent can work with all of them through one schema. Most AffiliateOS users keep their Impact account exactly as it is.
Does AffiliateOS take a cut of my Impact commissions?
No. Impact pays your commissions directly to you, unchanged. AffiliateOS is never in the payment path and charges for infrastructure — networks connected and volume — not a percentage of earnings.
What do I need to connect my Impact account?
API credentials from your own Impact dashboard, pasted once into AffiliateOS. They are sealed with libsodium before storage and decrypted only in worker memory at call time. AffiliateOS cannot get you accepted into Impact or into any merchant program — you bring an account you already have.
