Disclosure & network ToS
Agent-placed links are still affiliate links. The disclosure rules and network terms that apply to a human publisher apply unchanged when an agent does the placing, and you remain the accountable party. Here is what that means in practice.
Affiliate disclosure
In the US, FTC guidance requires a clear and conspicuous disclosure wherever affiliate links appear: near the links, understandable at a glance, not buried in a footer. The UK (ASA/CMA), EU member states, and most other jurisdictions have equivalent rules. A short line works: “This post contains affiliate links; we may earn a commission on purchases.”
If your agent publishes content containing links it minted, build the disclosure into the publishing step itself, not into a manual checklist. Automation that skips disclosure is the fastest way to lose both network accounts and audience trust.
How AffiliateOS stays inside network terms
| Practice | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Your own credentials on every call | Networks license their APIs to the account owner. AffiliateOS never proxies one user’s access through another’s account. |
| Official APIs only, no scraping | Dashboard scraping violates most network terms; AffiliateOS reads nothing a network has not exposed via API. |
| Documented sub-ID usage | Tags ride each network’s intended tracking parameter (clickref, subId1, sid, u1, ascsubtag), which is what those parameters exist for. |
| No data pooling or resale | Program terms and commission data stay visible only to the account that owns them. |
| No commission brokering | Links point at your accounts, so the network relationship and the payout remain yours. |
What stays your responsibility
- Disclosure wherever your links are published, in whatever format the platform requires.
- Each network’s program-level rules: some merchants forbid certain placements, paid-search bidding on brand terms, or coupon-style promotion.
- Content quality. Networks increasingly act against low-quality automated content. AffiliateOS is attribution infrastructure, not a content generator, and using it to mass-produce spam will get your network accounts terminated by the networks themselves.
- Tax treatment of affiliate income in your jurisdiction.
sync.auth_error event and account status in the dashboard will surface it quickly if a network suspends your API access.
